Next, to see that you apply your gel polish precisely make sure you read the instructions that have come with it. The details for applying the polish will vary depending on what type of gel polish you have chosen to go with. Be sure to follow the instructions precisely.
In order to cure your nail polish effectively, you're going to need a good LED nail lamp. Check the link for one of my personal favorites.
Once you have done all of the steps on the instructions, you should have a manicure that will last for up to two weeks. Once you are ready to change the polish because it has begun to chip away, removing the polish is when you have to be most careful. This is where the damage will happen if you don't do it correctly.
Removing the polish
Start by using a nail file on the surface of your polish. This will remove the shine from it.
Soak 10 cotton balls, or cotton pads in nail polish remover. Make sure you have enough for each nail. Wrap your fingers with foil while the cotton balls are in place on your nails. You will look comical but it's going to work.
After soaking for about 10 minutes remove the foil and cotton balls delicately and your polish should be able to glide right off. You can remove any extra polish that could still be stuck to your nails by using an orange stick. Do not force the nail polish to come off your nails. Duplicate the process if you feel that the nail polish is not being removed easily.

Cuticle care is an important part of nail care
Cuticles are often the most neglected of nail care. Many individuals just forget to care for them. Even if you have the most amazing nail color in the universe, your manicure will not look good if your cuticles are in horrific shape.
If you're interested in caring for your cuticles now, you're going to have to get cuticle remover. Pro FX cuticle remover is one of my personal favorites. It is basically a gel that is applied to the cuticles and then you soak them for about two minutes. Use a dry rag to remove the gel when they have finished soaking. To push cuticles back use a soft towel. This is a impressive product and it can easily be found in stores like Wal-Mart
I also like a Sally Hansen cuticle remover that is a bit stronger than the Pro FX one. It removes calluses as well. If you opt for this product, I would definitely suggest merely using it every month. It's really strong and you don't want to do more hurt than good to your nails.
To make your nails nice and soft I like Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle cream. Each night, before bed, I use this product on my fingers. It makes my fingers feel so soft and fresh. It's great for keeping your nails healthy and strong.
When tending to your cuticles, it may be tempting to trim them off, but this is not good. Cuticles are there to protect your nail beds and trimming them can lead to infections. Instead of trimming, push your cuticles back. The cuticle remover gels will make this process really simple and painless.

How to fix discolored nails
Discolorating can occur to the nails after using a lot of dark polishes, but fortunately nails can be whitened again. After using lots of nail polish, your nails can start to become a yellowing color. It really doesn't look so good. This is what I do to make sure my nails stay nice after using polish.
Mix together a bit of baking soda, 3% hydrogen peroxide and a little bit of lemon juice. A paste will form that can be applied to the nails as well as below the tips. Leave your nails like this for a few minutes. You can even use an old toothbrush to softly scrub the paste over your nails. Another method that likewise works is to hold a slice of lemon onto the nail bed for a couple of minutes. You will have to do this countless times before you are going to see any results from it.
